Freaky Fairbanks Haunted Tours 2015
With a passion to make a change, Amy Blansit and her late husband Drew Lewis purchased the landmark Fairbanks building with the intention of transforming it into a safe, fun place for families and local youth to relax, learn, and grow. Although Drew lost his battle with cancer in May of 2013, Amy continues to work to achieve their vision.
The Fairbanks Elementary School was built over a hundred years ago. Its school rooms, once filled with the laughter of children are no more. The last students disappeared 8 years ago - never to return. It stands empty while ghostly figures lurk in the dead of night leaving strange markings on the walls.
Now, some say it's a perfect place to dread entering. No one knows what might jump out to scare you... That's why they call it the 'Freaky Fairbanks', and this October, it'll being haunted for everyone's Halloween fun! The Drew Lewis Foundation at the Fairbanks, in partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Springfield and Missouri State University, wants to freak you out with the 2nd Annual Freaky Fairbanks Haunted Tours! Come and discover the ghostly story of the historic Fairbanks Elementary School over the course of two weekends: October 22-24 and 29-31, 2015. The hour from 7 to 8 pm will be kid-friendly for ages 12 and under. The 13 and up version will take place from 8-10 pm.
All proceeds will go directly to the Drew Lewis Foundation education and neighborhood enhancement projects at the Fairbanks, with a goal of $2,000 to be donated to the partnership between Drew Lewis Foundation and the Henderson and Sertoma units of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Springfield. The funds will support the Fine Arts and Music programs.
